Minopex awarded ‘Excellence in Social Development’ at AAMEG Awards 2025

The Australia-Africa Minerals & Energy Group (AAMEG), the peak body representing Australian companies engaged in Africa’s resource industry, has once again celebrated organisations making a difference across the continent.

At its annual AAMEG Awards ceremony, held on Thursday 4 September during Africa Down Under in Perth, DRA Global Group subsidiary, Minopex, was recognised with the prestigious ‘Excellence in Social Development’ award.

This recognition highlights the Lasting Legacy Initiative in South Africa, which tackles unemployment, limited education, and healthcare challenges through skills development, local procurement, enterprise support, and infrastructure improvement. By combining strategic planning with grassroots engagement, Minopex is helping create long-term socio-economic upliftment that extends well beyond mining operations.

Key outcomes and impact include:

  • A$121.8 million in preferential procurement (24% above target) with a 9% increase in support for Black Women-Owned businesses.
  • A$117.4 million spent with B-BBEE-compliant suppliers, achieving maximum transformation scorecard points.
  • A$3.1 million in skills development, bursaries, learnerships, and apprenticeships, plus targeted training for women in mining.
  • A$2.6 million invested in supplier and enterprise development to strengthen small business capacity.
  • A$3 million allocated to education infrastructure, creating safer, modern learning spaces and local job opportunities.

We are immensely proud of our contributions and grateful for the recognition from AAMEG.

The AAMEG Awards showcase the transformative role of Australian companies in Africa, reinforcing the value of collaboration and shared growth between industry and communities.
