Engineering, Procurement & Construction

The Kipoi copper project covers an area of 55 km2 and is located 75 km north-west of the city of Lubumbashi, in the Katanga province of the DRC. The project contains a 12 km sequence of mineralised Roan sediments that host at least five known deposits, namely Kipoi Central, Kipoi North, Kileba, Judeira and Kaminafitwe. DRA Global was appointed as the EPC contractor for the complete project. DRA conducted the complete design, procurement, supply and construction implementation of the HMS plant including front – and comminution circuit.

The initial phase of solvent extraction and electrowinning (SX-EW) at the Kipoi project has been designed to process approximately 3.5 million tpa of copper-bearing ore and to produce 25,000 tpa of London Metal Exchange (LME) Grade A copper cathode.
