DRA was appointed by Seriti Power to design, construct and commission a 2 ML/D mine water reclamation plant at the Klipspruit Mining Operations. A turnkey solution was required to treat the mine impacted water to achieve a treated water specification fit for environmental discharge at the highest water recovery.
DRA's engineers developed a two-stage membrane process with interstage conditioning to achieve the stringent treated water specification at an impressive water recovery of >98%. DRA's years of experience in developing high recovery solutions delivers great value to our Clients as it economically reduces the cost of advanced brine treatment or minimizes the post closure liability of storing brine on site.
With brine efficiencies being a major focus for Seriti Power, DRA together with the Client have subsequently been able to collaboratively develop a low-cost solution to achieve "Zero Liquid Discharge" at the operation and eliminated the high cost of brine treatment.
