Project description

Ivanplats Mines Limited (Ivanplats) appointed DRA Global as principle consultant for the Platreef Project Feasibility Study (FS) in South Africa.

A probable ore reserve of approximately 124.7Mt grading at 4.40g/t Pt, Pd, Au, and Rh (referred to as 4PE) was defined in multiple mining zones to support a 4Mt/a, 30-year mine life. These ore zones occured at depths ranging from approximately 700m to 1,600m. The mine was accessed via vertical shafts and mining was performed using highly productive mechanized methods, and paste backfill to backfill open stopes.

Services provided

DRA Global was involved in the early stages of the project through the overall management of the Pre-Feasibility Study (PFS) and Feasibility Study (FS) to NI43-101 in 2015, as well as the design and project support services during Shaft 1 sinking phase. Following the successful implementation, DRA Global continued to partner with Ivanhoe and was responsible for the management of the civil engineering, early works and associated infrastructure during the Shaft 2 box cut and hitch construction phase.
